The SmartTray system has been introduced by AutoPot Europe Ltd, to meet the demands of the domestic grower for a low cost and a low maintenance alternative to NFT systems. A single SmartValve that regulates the flow of water to the tray controls the feeding and watering each SmartTray.
By growing in pots the grower has the full advantage of being able to remove and change plants when and where necessary. Plants can be lifted from one system to another with ease and without causing stress to the plant. The use of pots offers the grower with a wider choice of potting mediums such as soil mixes, coco fibre, Rockwool, Perlite, Vermiculite and combinations of each.
Extending and expanding the SmartTray system can be done with ease at any time. Simply use connecting Tees and join to the existing 4mm pipe of the system in use.Pots: varying amounts and sizes of pots are supplied with the SmartTray modules, this is dependent of the SmartTray required. The Capillary SmartTray does not come supplied with pots.
It is supplied with 2 pegboards and two pieces of capillary matting. With this tray any size pot or seed tray can be used - see Capillary Table for more details.

SmartTray Extras:
The extras to your SmartTray system enable you to utilise Root Control Discs and Air Cages. RCDs prevent the roots from growing into the trays, which restricts the nutrient solution flow and can interfere with the SmartValve as well as ensuring the tray is kept clean from the growing media in the pots. To utilise the RCDs, place a RCD in the bottom of a pot and then place another pot on top, effectively doubling up the pots with a RCD in between the two pots.
The Air Cages can be attached to an air pump, which will provide the plants roots with O2 by placing them into the bottom of the pots.
